About This Section

Back Porch Sill Field Guide publishes guides to vinyl windows in Carlsbad, CA, written for readers weighing up a job rather than browsing.

Where a Professional Takes Over

A page written in advance cannot see the property it is being read about. It is background, meant to make the conversation with a contractor a more informed one.

Editorial Approach

Guides concentrate on judgement calls rather than procedure. Technique belongs to the contractor, so it is covered only where a homeowner's choice depends on it.

Scope

Rather than covering everything shallowly, this section stays with one trade in one place. Narrowing the subject is the only way the detail stays accurate long enough to be useful.

Independence

This is an independent publication. No contractor pays for placement, for a ranking, or for a particular opinion.
